>BURDEN BROTHERS

TS: Is there any meaning behind the name of the band? How did it first come about?
BB: The name came from a now defunct electrical engineering company here in Dallas, TX. The name BURDEN BROTHERS was in big bold letters on the side of their building. As you would drive down one of the main highways here you would always see it. As I understand it (since I was not in the band at that time), the band had it's first show on the horizon several years back and Taz thought it might be an interesting name for the 1 gig and then they would change it every show. It's been 5 years now. Plus it's very fitting considering everyones past burdens with the industry.
TS: How does a Burden Brothers song usually form?

TS: Are there any plans for a new music video to be released in the future?
BB: We haven't really discussed it yet. I'm sure if there is a good response to the first single we will put something together. It's one of those interesting things that have changed in the music industry over the past several years. You used to need a video to get on radio. Now, unless your single is Top 30 you probably won't see any play on the MTVs or VH1s. Not that they really play videos anymore. But you're starting to have a bunch of other avenues to get your video seen like myspace and youtube. So more than likely you will see something from us very soon.
TS: What did you guys think of playing at Lollapalooza this year?

BB: It used to be Vaden and Taz bringing in the song. Now it's become more of a collective thing. One of us will bring in an idea. Vaden takes it home and tweaks with it and writes some melodies. Taz throws some ideas around. Hess adds some quircky guitars. I throw some tapping in there. The band all throws in their bits and once it's all done we have a cool rock song.
TS: In what ways will "Mercy" differ from "Buried in Your Black Heart?"
BB: It's a very mature record. Whereas "BIYBH" was very in your face, this one has more depth to it. It's got the slow stuff , the heavy stuff, the poppy stuff. It's very well rounded and touches on all the bases. We're taking a few more risks on this album and hopefully people will like what they

BB: Lollapalooza was amazing. It was a fantastic lineup, a beautiful day and we had a blast. We can't wait to get back to Chicago.
TS: How many more albums do you think you'll release after "Mercy?"
BB: As many as people will let us release. As long as people listen I can't see why we wouldn't. If we can keep writing the caliber of music that's on "Mercy" I see no end in sight. We'll let the people decide.
TS: Are you guys going to come Louisiana anytime soon?

BB: We will be in LA very, very soon. If not before the end of '06 then definitely the very beginning of '07.

hear. We are all extremely proud of this album and can't wait for people to hear it.
TS: Is there a set date or an expected time in mind for the release of the new album?
BB: It will be released on Halloween - 10/31/06.
TS: What's some of the gear that was used for recording?
BB: We used a bit of everything. Some really old Marshalls and Fenders to new Naylors and VHTs. Plenty of Gibsons and Fenders, old and new. Even some Rickenbackers. Plus some old Rhodes and Moogs. Whatever we could get our hands on.
TS: By the way, does Vaden still use a harmonica mic any?
BB: Vaden has not used the bullet mic since I've been in the band. So it's been at least 3 years.
